MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – A sunny day in Miami Shores showed a Widener Men's Basketball defeat against #17 Wesleyan.
The 94-65 loss moves the Pride to 2-7 in the regular season and 0-1 in neutral site games.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Graduate student Kevin Schenk led with 13 points along with Jacob Ayree.
- Luke Mazur would accumulate double digits with 11.
- Defensively, Schenk and Ayree both held two steals while Matt Daulerio had a block.
- The Pride shot 43.6% from the floor, 36.8% from three, and capitalized on 14 points off turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first points of the game were put in by Schenk on a good jumper at 19:06. Mazur drove in for a good layup to draw an and 1. Kori Segich gave the Pride their first lead of the game with a good jumper. An Aryee steal gave Myles Bright some fast break buckets while Schenk cashed in an and 1 play a minute later. Steven Hamilton hit a good triple just under the hallway mark to make the score 26-15 Cardinals. Mazur followed suit with a steal and a triple. The half would end with Schenk putting in a layup at the 2:53 minute mark. The Pride would head into halftime down 48-26.
- A slow Blue and Gold start out of halftime would show an 11-0 Cardinal run before Aryee put in a layup to break the run. Daulerio saw some of his first points with a good jumper in the paint to give the Pride 30. Hamilton sunk a triple at 13:09 after an Aryee steal. A Mazur triple pushed the Pride to 40 while Aryee's back-to-back jumpers would mark the midway point of the second. Daulerio put in the next five Pride points to cut the lead to 78-51. At 4:25, Aryee drained a triple from an Ethan Dodson pass while Sean Mizzoni saw the final points of the game with a triple. The Pride went on to fall 94-65.
