ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Women's Basketball won their first game of the season and brought their record to even against the Marymount University Saints.
The Pride improved to 1-1 and remain 0-0 in conference.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Mia Robbins would lead the team with 29 points, going 11-23 from the field and 7-9 from the line.
- Avalynn Baer was the second leading scorer for The Pride with 12 points, going 4-10 from the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter started off well for The Pride as they were able to take a commanding 13-5 lead early as Mia Robbins and Avalyn Baer took over, scoring 10 of those points. The Saints would bring the game closer towards the end of the quarter as they hit two three throws and a shot from three to bring the score to 13-10.
- Mia Robbins continued her dominance in the second quarter as she was fouled twice and scored four points for The Pride in the first minute. THE Pride were unable to extend the lead as Marymount continued to fight back, eventually evening the score at 22. After the game became tied the tied, Widener was able to extend their lead to 5 and the game would go into the half with a score of 30-25.
- After the half, the teams would go back and forth trading shots until eventually, The Saints were able to take the lead for the first time since the beginning of the first quarter with a score of 42-41. The quarter would continue to go back and forth with Widener reclaiming the lead and going into the final frame hanging on to a 47-46 lead.
- After Marymount scored the first points of the fourth quarter, Widener would go on and 8-0 run widening their lead to 55-48. The Saints continued to fight, bringing the game to a score of 64-61. With seconds left, Marymount would foul Ava Baer, and she would go on to sink both free throws to ice the game for Widener.
