READING, Pa. – Men's Soccer earns their first conference win of the season against the Albright College Lions.
The Pride move to 5-3-3 in the regular season and 1-0 in the MAC Commonwealth.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride had 13 shots (5 on goal). The Lions had 7 shots (3 on goal).
- Sean Fatiga Scored the only goal of the match
- Stefano Turano had one assist
- Widener had 8 corner kicks compared to Albright's 4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After winning their last game, The Pride came out hot as Sean Fatiga put Widener ahead at the 1:50 mark with an assist from Stefano Turano. Fatiga would then attempt to increase the lead a few minutes later but the shot was saved by the goalkeeper. The Lions then applied some pressure to the Widener defense putting two shots on goal at the 12:10 and 14:11 marks, both saved by Ryan Van Pelt. Both defenses would tighten up for the remainder of the half, stopping any attempt to create offense. The game would go into the half with The Pride leading one to zero.
- The second half started with each team immediately putting a shot on goal with no success. The Pride would the start to take control of the game as they put shot after shot onto the Albright goal but to no avail. The defense would have to step up to maintain Widener's lead and they did. The Pride held Albright to only four shots in the second half were able to shut them out securing the one to nothing victory.
