READING, Pa. - Women's Volleyball extends their win streak to three with a 3-2 win over the Alvernia Golden Wolves.Â
The Pride improve to 17-10 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.Â

Widener started with a strong lead, quickly reaching 8-2 after a series of powerful kills by Shannon Toomey and Abigail Herrin. A service ace from Liz Barnes extended the lead to 10-2. Widener then went on a dominating 7-point run, widening the gap to 17-6, as Campbell Chronister set up Toomey and Mira Canali for decisive kills. Alvernia struggled to respond to Widener's .448 attack percentage, and Lilyanna Martucci capped the set with a kill assisted by Chronister, ending at 25-10.Â

The second set was a tight back-and-forth battle. Widener initially trailed 10-12, but a kill by Kristen Vacca and two blocks by Mira Canali tied the game at 13-13. Widener then built momentum, going on a 5-2 run to lead 18-15, thanks to smart assists from Meghan Prior to Martucci and Toomey. Alvernia responded with their own 4-point run, pulling ahead 23-22, but a kill from Herrin tied it at 23-23. With the score locked at 25-25, Julia Schwab served an ace, and Herrin followed with a final kill from Chronister, securing the set for Widener at 27-25.Â

Alvernia adjusted defensively in the third set, pushing Widener into an early 5-10 deficit. Despite efforts by Azira Benjamin and Marissa Miller on defense, Widener couldn't break through Alvernia's blocks and fell behind 11-17. Alvernia capitalized on several attack errors by Widener, extending their lead with a 6-point run, making the score 23-14. Alex Verchio made several digs, but Alvernia ultimately took the set 25-17.Â

Widener responded with a decisive 5-point run to stretch their lead to 16-11, with Herrin and Kristen Vacca stepping up offensively. Liz Barnes served well, disrupting Alvernia's defense, and Julia Schwab contributed an ace to maintain Widener's edge at 20-15. The set concluded 25-20 after a well-placed kill by Martucci, assisted by Prior, forcing a fifth set.Â
