CHESTER, Pa. - Women's Volleyball pick up a much-needed 3-1 win over conference opponent Albright College.
The Pride improve 15-10 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.Â

The Pride and Lions started close, with a 3-3 tie early. The teams would trade early runs as Widener would hold a tight 10-9 lead, but an Albright kill would see them take the lead at 13-15. Both teams again would go on runs, but Widener's 6-1 final run would give them the 25-22 win in set one.Â

The start of the second set was close again, as Albright led 2-3, until a 6-1 Pride run would leap them up 8-4. The Lions would go on a huge 2-9 run to go up 16-19, but a 5-1 Pride run would see them regain the lead at 21-20. Unfortunately, Albright would score five straight as the Pride would fall 20-25.Â

In set 3, Widener edged Albright 28-26. Albright made a strong push with several ties and lead changes, but Widener pulled ahead in the final moments with a kill by Shannon Toomey, sealing the win at 28-26. Key contributors included Alex Verchio and Shannon Toomey, who secured important kills down the stretch.Â

In set 4, Widener won decisively 25-18. Widener opened with a strong lead, maintaining control throughout the set. Abigail Herrin and Shannon Toomey were pivotal, both contributing with crucial kills. Widener's consistent attack, combined with errors from Albright, helped them close out the match. Â
