YORK, Pa. – Men's Soccer narrowly avoided a loss in the final minutes against the York College Spartans.
 
The Pride are now 7-5-4 in the regular season and 2-1-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
 

• The Pride took 15 shots (5 on goal). The Spartans took 16 shots (6 on goal).
• Sean Fatiga Scored the only goal of the match for The Pride.
• Ryan Van Pelt had 4 saves in goal.
• The Pride attempted 2 corner kicks while The Spartans attempted 7.

 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 

• Looking for their third MAC Commonwealth victory of the season, The Pride would have to fight hard to earn against a tough Spartans team. The first half of the match would see Widener and York trade shots. The Pride would put up six shots in the half while The Spartans managed to get off seven shots. Neither team was able to break through the stellar defense and goalkeeping and the match would go into the half deadlocked at zero.

 

• The Second half of the match looked identical to the first half with the teams' trading shots but each time denying a score. Until the 76:35 mark when The Spartans were finally able to break through the defense and take a one to nothing lead. With time running out for The Pride things were looking bleak, until Sean Fatiga came in clutch and scored the game tying goal at the 81:41 mark. As the clock ran down, neither team was able to secure the go-ahead goal, and the match would end in a one-to-one tie.

Widener will Travel to Frederick, Md. to face off against Hood College on Saturday, October 26th. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
