GRANTHAM, Pa. - Field Hockey takes a tough loss on the road as they fall to MAC rival and national #19 team Messiah University.
The Pride fall to 5-9 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

Widener started off the game on the defensive, committing several fouls early, and allowing Messiah to dominate possession. Despite some early saves by goalie Lilly Rejrat, Widener conceded the first goal at 9:36 when Messiah's Aubrey Clark scored, assisted by Ellie Lefever. Widener had two shots late in the quarter, but both were saved, leaving the score 1-0 in favor of Messiah at the end of the first quarter.

Widener continued to struggle with fouls and couldn't maintain possession against Messiah's aggressive play. A key moment came at 21:07, when Mallory Kline extended Messiah's lead to 2-0, with an assist from Audrey Weger. Despite two penalty corners late in the quarter, Widener couldn't convert, and they went into halftime trailing 2-0.

The third quarter saw more defensive work from Widener, with goalie Lilly Rejrat making multiple saves. However, Messiah added to their lead at 37:12 with a goal from Leah Bryner. Widener's offense struggled, generating just one shot, which was saved, leaving the score at 3-0 by the end of the third.

Widener conceded another goal at 54:27, as Chelsea Carpenter made it 4-0 for Messiah. Widener finally broke through at 57:35, when Briana Rocha scored with an assist from Eleanor Gieser. Despite this late surge, Widener couldn't close the gap, and the game ended 4-1 in Messiah's favor.
