HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST KEAN
-
The Pride would start down 2-4 early, but a 5-0 run later in the set would Widener retake the lead at 12-10. The Cougars would respond with a 2-8 run as the Pride would fall behind 17-23 and despite a strong run, a Kean kill would give them the set 21-25.
-
The Pride again would struggle to get things going early, falling behind 3-6 to start the third set. Widener would face another tough run, this time 2-9, as the team would trail 6-15. A 6-2 Pride run highlighted by three Shannon Toomey kills would close the lead to 12-17, but another big Kean run would end the set and match as the Pride would fall 15-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LASELL
-
Widener started the match with confidence, pulling ahead early thanks to solid kills from Shannon Toomey and Abigail Herrin. After multiple lead changes, Widener found themselves tied at 21-21. At this crucial point, Alex Verchio's kill and a well-timed block from Mira Canali helped Widener regain control. With the score 24-23, Herrin closed the set with a decisive kill, giving Widener the first set victory at 25-23.
-
Lasell came out aggressive in the second set, quickly jumping ahead due to several service aces from Analee Ronas. Widener struggled to respond, especially with four service errors and a stagnant offense that produced only five kills. Abigail Herrin tried to rally the team with a strong kill midway through the set, but Lasell's lead proved insurmountable. A final kill from Lasell's Juliana Medini ended the set at 25-14.
-
Widener opened the third set with renewed energy, keeping pace with Lasell through the early stages. A service ace from Campbell Chronister and timely kills from Verchio and Toomey helped narrow the gap to 9-9. However, Lasell's block, led by Juliana Medini and Morgan Bogli, stifled Widener's attack. A mid-set surge from Lasell pushed their lead to 18-11, and despite a late Widener rally with kills from Herrin, Lasell closed the set 25-17.
-
In the fourth set, Widener fought hard to stay competitive, managing to tie the score at 16-16 after a kill by Lilyanna Martucci. However, Lasell quickly regained control with a strong serving run from Maddie Caro, who delivered multiple aces. Widener couldn't keep up with Lasell's aggressive play, and key errors in the final points sealed their fate. A final block from Victoria Pariseault ended the match, with Lasell taking the set 25-17 and the overall win.
