CHESTER, Pa. – Men's Soccer suffered its first conference loss of the season Saturday afternoon against the Alvernia University Golden Wolves.
 
The Pride fall to 7-5-3 in the regular season and 2-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
 

• The Pride took 16 shots (3 on goal). The Golden Wolves had 11 shots (5 on goal).
• Christian Doyle scored the only goal of the game for The Pride.
• Widener committed 12 fouls while Alvernia committed 13.
• The Pride attempted 3 corner kicks while The Golden Wolves attempted 5.

 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 

• As The Pride took the field Saturday afternoon, they were looking to stay undefeated in the Mac Commonwealth. Widener would start the afternoon strong as Sean Fatiga was fouled in the box and Christian Doyle would take the penalty kick, scoring at the 7:45 mark. The Golden Wolves would swiftly respond as they scored the game tying goal at the 13:30 mark. Widener and Alvernia would trade shots for the rest of the half, but with no success as the game would go into the half tied one to one.

 

• After halftime, the Widener offense applied constant pressure to the Alvernia defense putting up shot after shot but were unable to connect. The Golden Wolves were able to turn the tide at the 79:43 mark, scoring the go-ahead goal. The Pride continued to fight until the final whistle but were unable to connect on a game-tying goal. The match would end with a final score of Widener one and Alvernia two.
