Late Game Comeback for Field Hockey Falls Short Against Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - A slow start for Field Hockey leads to a 2-3 loss to Stevenson on the road. 

The Pride fall to 5-8 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. 

BY THE NUMBERS 

  • Lily Rejrat would play the second half and allow no goals and two saves. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Pride would suffer their first goal under two minutes into gameplay, but Juliana Sanchez would respond with a goal of her own on the assist from Mackenzie Adamson. The Mustangs would score for the second time late into the quarter however as the Pride would trail 1-2 after a quarter. 

  • Stevenson would score their third goal of the afternoon nearly ten minutes into the second quarter. The two retaliating shots for Widener wouldn't result in goals as the team would be behind 1-3 heading into halftime. 

  • The third quarter would see no goals from either side as the Pride were held to only one shot attempt in the period. Lily Rejrat and Meredith Marsteller would record goals as the score remained 1-3. 

  • Sanchez would break through again with a goal eight minutes into the fourth quarter on the assist from Marsteller and Maddie Hoyer. Widener would not be able to tie the game late however, as the Pride would fall 2-3. 

UP NEXT 

The Pride will stay on the road as they travel to Grantham, Pa to take on Messiah on Wednesday, October 23rd. Game time is set 7pm.
