FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Widener men's volleyball makes quick work of the Eagles of Saint Elizabeth as they sweep in the match 3-0.
The Pride improve to 2-1 on the season, their second season in a row to start 2-1.

The Pride were dominant on services this match, scoring 10 service aces without allowing an ace for the Eagles.

Michael Martino was a bright spot for Widener in this win. He led the team in kills and digs with 15 on .500 hitting percentage and seven respectively, adding in two aces as well.

Josh Matchett again look great as a setter, leading the team with 29 assists and getting six digs.

Christian Wannamaker is had an impressive day in only the third game of his career. He totaled seven kills, five assists, four digs, a block, and an ace on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The first set saw a major group of runs by the Pride. They had a five point run and two three point runs as Michael Martino made his presence felt on the court. A Nick Poulson kill would wrap up the set 25-13.

The Eagles would respond nicely in the second set, making much less errors and trading points with the Pride throughout the set. That was until the Pride would go on a 8-2 run led by Christian Wannamaker and Michael Martino. The pair would stay hot until Martino sealed the match with a service ace to win 25-20.

The third set was another trading blows set where no team pulled away. In fact, up to the score tied at 18, no team was able to pull away in the set by more than a point. First year Izaiah Rivera was able to steal momentum with an ace and, with a Christian Wannamaker kill, the sweep was complete with a 25-21 set three win.

The Pride will return to Schwartz Center as they face off against the #3 national team in the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University. Game time will be this Friday, February 2 at 7:30pm.
