#15 Men’s Basketball Falls Against York on the Road

Pride struggle with fast paced Spartans’ offense

YORK, Pa. – #15 Widener Men's Basketball fought against a hot shooting York Spartans offense in MAC Commonwealth defeat.

The 84-64 loss drops the Pride to 15-3 in the regular season and 5-2 in the MAC Commonwealth.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Dominic Dunn led the Pride with 15 points and five rebounds.
  • Off the bench, Matt Daulerio added nine points with four rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kevin Schenk saw the basket first for the Pride with a good layup to answer the Spartans good triple. A hot Spartans' offense would have the Pride defense struggle as Dunn would help cut into the deficit with a good layup. Luke Mazur would drain the Pride's only triple of the first half with 13:30 on the board. A Mike Kane rebound into a Daulerio layup would bring the game within six seconds later. Dunn would see a string of free throws before Anthony DiCaro found the net with a good jumper. The score was 41-24 Spartans. Misses on both sides of the ball would be ended with a final layup from the Spartans to go into the locker room down 21.
  • The Pride offense would open the half with the first points as Schenk poked a ball loose and Daulerio cashed in on a layup. Rankine found himself at the charity stripe to cash in on a free throw with just under 15 remaining. With 12:13 on the clock, Dunn stole a Spartans' ball and capitalized with a layup. As time ticked down Schenk would hit another layup and DiCaro would drain a triple to try and cut into the lead. The final points of the game came from a Daulerio layup, free throw, and layup once more. The Pride would fall 84-64 on the road in York, Pa.
