Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated as Doyle Remains Red Hot in Scoring

The Pride Now Return Home for Two Matches

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Despite a scoreless first half between the Pride and Swarthmore College Garnet, Christian Doyle kept his scoring streak going in the 85th minute to give Widener a 1-0 win.

The Pride are 3-0-0 in the regular season. They see their first conference opponent, the York College Spartans, on Sept. 30.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Pride had 13 shots, four of which were on goal.
  • Doyle has three goals on the year (six total points).
  • Ryan Van Pelt made six saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SWARTHMORE
  • The shot totals between Widener and Swarthmore were essentially even. The Garnet had 14 shots, six of which were on goal.
  • Five yellow cards were assessed in the match. Swarthmore was responsible for three of them.
  • On the Doyle goal, the Pride recorded their first assists of the season. Jordi Lopez and Sean Fatiga were awarded an assist.
