CHESTER, Pa. – Although Widener women's soccer went down 3-0 against the Swarthmore College Garnet on Wednesday, the Pride lost 3-2 at home.
The Pride are 2-3-4 in the regular season. They see their first conference opponent, the York College Spartans, on Saturday, Sept. 30.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride attempted five shots (two on goal).
- Widener only had five fouls for the evening, compared to Swarthmore's 10.
- The Pride made 10 saves in goal. Nicole Rende had seven, while Samantha Coon had three.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SWARTHMORE
- Widener's first goal of the match was due to Swarthmore scoring on themselves. This occurred at the 43:08 mark of the first half.
- With about 10 minutes left in regulation, Kelly Barr knocked in the Pride's second goal. The assist was from Abby Picollo. For Barr, it was her second goal of the year. Picollo picked up her second assist of the season.
- The battle of corner kicks was close. The Garnet had three, while the Pride had two.
- Rende made a good save at the 85:24 mark. Swarthmore's Allie Zitelli attempted a shot at the bottom right corner of the net, but it was denied.
- Barr and Maura Graves were tied for the team lead of one shot on goal each.

The Pride will be back home on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 12 p.m. They will host the York College Spartans.
