BALTIMORE, Md. - Women's Volleyball breezes past Goucher College 3-1 before getting a close 3-2 win against Neumann at the Goucher-hosted tri-match. 
 

The Pride move to a 7–5 record and remain 0-1 in conference play. Their next in-conference game will be Tuesday, September 26th against Eastern University. 

BY THE NUMBERS 

• Lilyanna Martucci again led the Pride in goals in game one with 11 and in game two with 15 

• Megan Barthol continues her assisting trailblazing with 37 in game one and 40 in game two 

• Rachel DiCarlo again leads Widener in digs in both games with 31 in game one and 25 in game two 

• Widner was the more disciplined team in both games, winning the error battle 18-30 against Goucher and 22-32 against Neumann 

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GOUCHER 

• Widener takes an early lead in set one and doesn't look back as they take an easy 25-14 win 

• With the scored tied at 21 late in set two, Megan Barthol gets two assists and an ace as Widener takes a 25-22 win 

• Errors stall the sweep as Goucher takes the third set 25-21 

• The Pride, stunned by the set three loss, regain composure take down the Gophers 25-14 to win the fourth set and match 

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NEUMANN 

• The Pride start slow in the first set, getting off to an early deficit they cannot recover from and losing 25-18 in set one 

• Tied at 13 in the middle of the second set, Widener scores the next six points in a row and wins the set 25-21 

• Widener keeps the hot hand into the third set, and along with some timely Neumann errors wins the set 25-16 

• The fourth set sees another tie game at 21, both teams go back and forth down the stretch until Neumann takes the set 25-23 

• As the match rolls into its final set, Lilyanna Martucci and Shannon Toomey catch fire with kills to take a 15-10 set and match win

The Pride will look to even up their conference record on Tuesday, September 26th at home against Eastern University. That game is set to start at 7pm.
