CHESTER, Pa. – With two goals against the Cabrini University Cavaliers on Wednesday, Widener women's soccer won their first match of the season 2-0.
The Pride are 1-2-4 in the regular season. They will play their first conference match against the York College Spartans on Saturday, Sept. 30.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride took 20 shots (10 on goal). The Cavaliers took five shots (two on goal).
- Cabrini had two corner kicks compared to Widener's one.
- Samantha Coon made two saves in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CABRINI
- The Pride put up five shots in the first 20 minutes of action. One of them was saved by Cabrini goalie Caroline Hassall.
- Widener's first goal of the match, and of the season, came at the 11:20 mark by Alyssa Carman in the first half. The goal was assisted by Abby Picollo.
- Despite a missed shot by Kelly Barr at 76:36, she would put in Widener's second goal of the evening at 85:11. That goal was assisted by Madison Blackshire.
- Barr and Carman led the team with four shot attempts each. Ciara Minkel was right behind with three shots.
- Coon recorded one save in each half.

The Pride are back home on Saturday, September 23 at 4 p.m. They will take on the Arcadia University Knights.
