CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener men's volleyball team battled hard but despite their efforts, fell to a #5 Messiah team in three sets.
The Pride is now 11-11 on the season and 1-5 in MAC Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MESSIAH
Josh Matchett's six kills led the Pride in this match. Widener had 11 kills on 65 total attacks.
The first set saw both teams going back and forth, each answering the other team's point with one of their own. With the score at 14-10, the Falcons took their lead and extended it, capitalizing on reception and service errors. The Pride drops the first set 25-16.
Coming out in the second set looking to get a lead somehow, the Pride and Falcons go back and forth again to start the set. Holding the lead for the first six points, Messiah grabbed it and took over on the offensive side, going on a six-point scoring run. Messiah walked away with a second victory over the Pride, winning set two 25-13.
A Messiah service error got the Pride on the board to open up the third set. Unable to grab on to a lead, Widener's defense was challenged and fought hard against the fast Falcon offense. The Widener saw two kills this set, both coming from Matchett. The Pride drops the thirst set 25-11.
