CHESTER, Pa.- The Widener men's basketball team pushed past Hood to pick up another conference win and continue a four-game win streak. The Pride defeated the Blazers 92-82 and are currently 16-7 on the season and 10-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST HOOD
The Pride came out strong in the first half and ready to take on Hood in a MAC Conference battle. Kenny Lewis found two for the Pride twenty seconds into the half and got the Pride on the board. Pat Holden scored a three off a Dominic Dunn assist and the Pride started to heat up. Dominic Dunn scored a triple with the score sitting at 8-2 in favor of Widener. A steal by Steven Matlack turned into two for Pat Holden. Blazer's closed the gap to four from a good layup by Jack Fricka and with 16:54 on the clock Pride led 10-7. Holden capitalized off a defensive board from Holden and Dunn dropped in two more from a jumper in the paint. Hood's Trumaine Strickland found three and caught the Blazer up to just a one-point deficit. Kevin Schenk turned it around and dropped in two more for the Pride but with 13:22 remaining, Will Spencer tied the score up 15-15. A scoreless two minutes went by but a good jumper by Luke Mazur broke the drought. The Pride and Blazers go back and forth, but at 9:44 on the clock, Xavier Ernest dropped in two in the paint and found himself with the and-one at the line. A good three by Mazur pushed the lead to eight points. Over the next three minutes the Pride scored nine points and maintained a 14-point lead with five minutes remaining. Holden found another three-pointer with 1:25 remaining in the half followed by a Dunn three in just thirty seconds. A missed Dunn three turned into a step-back jumper for him right as the buzzer sounded. The Pride finished the half leading the Blazers 53-35. Widener shot 58% from the floor this half, 36 points coming from the paint.
Coming out in the second half, the Blazers immediately got to the line and scored two. Schenk quickly answered with a three from a Matlack assist. At 16:20 on the clock, Holden kicked off a three-point shot spree, followed by threes from Matlack, Holden again, and then Matlack again. With ten minutes remaining, the Blazers capitalized on the Pride getting cold and the Pride sat at 74 points for three minutes. Hood's Garrison Linton put the score at 74-62 with 7:13 remaining and the Pride got hot again after a good layup from Kenny Lewis. Finishing the game out with fouls, the Pride scored eight points off foul shots and finished the game with a 92-82 win. The Pride scored 14 points off fast breaks this half, and 36 points in the paint.
