CHESTER, Pa. – MAC crossover against Arcadia became a battle for the undefeated record as Widener Women's Basketball fell at home.
The 66-58 loss gives the Pride their first loss of the season to go 7-1.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Jordan D'Ambrosio led the Pride with 22 points.
- Mary McFillin shoots season high 15 points with five threes and blocks four shots.
- Lindsay Kutz snags nine rebounds.
- The Pride would shoot 30.3% from the floor and 14 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kimberly Casiello opened scoring for the Pride with a three to answer a Knights' first points and quickly add a second three a couple minutes later. The middle portion of the quarter for the Pride caused problems with a missed shot. The score drought would end with a free throw from Kutz and a good jumper after a steal. The Pride headed into the second down 18-13.
- A three from McFillin and a jumper from D'Ambrosio cut the lead to four. Close after McFillin added another triple which was followed with a D'Ambrosio triple to cut the lead to two. With under a minute Avalynn Baer hit a free throw to head into halftime down 36-28.
- Out of half, the first nine points came from threes. McFillin would add two to her stat line while D'Ambrosio drained another. Two Kutz free throws would start a Pride run to close the third. The Pride took a nine-point deficit and turned it into a two point lead with shots from D'Ambrosio, McFillin, and Lia Samuels.
- A battle for the undefeated record continued in the fourth with Mia Robbins hitting a free throw and D'Ambrosio hitting a jumper in the paint to bring the lead back to six. A fast Knights' offense would prove difficult for the Pride as they fell 66-58 on home court.
