Dominic Dunn Double-Doubles In MAC Crossover at DeSales

Dunn sees season high 28 points

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Widener Men's Basketball picks up sixth win over DeSales in first non-tournament style game.
 
The 92-77 win puts the Pride at 6-1 in the regular season with the first MAC Commonwealth game scheduled for just after the new year.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Dominic Dunn led the Pride with 28 points and 11 rebound in 27 minutes.
  • Dunn and Howie Rankine led with three steals.
  • Rankine tallied a block.
  • Off the bench, Luke Mazur added 16 points of the Pride's 92.
  • The team would shoot 47.7% from the floor and capitalize on turnovers with 22 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Schenk would open with the first seven points for the Pride as he drained a triple and hit two good jumpers in the paint. A back-and-forth battle from both sides would be ended as Dunn hit his first points of the night to give the Pride a two-point advantage with 14:31 on the board. Michael Kane would follow it up with a good layup. At the halfway point of the first the Pride would trail by three as Matt Daulerio and Dunn chipped away at the deficit. With just over five remaining the Pride would go on an 8-0 run Mazur saw seven of the eight points. Heading into half, Dunn pulled a good jumper to end with a 43-37 lead.
  • In the opening minutes of the second, Dunn would see five more points as the score kept increasing for both sides. A timeout to reset the strategy from the Pride gave them a 60-53 lead with 13:45 remaining. Kane and Dunn would go back-to-back with points to extend the lead to 13. The Pride would follow the trend with a 10-0 run with five remaining to give a comfortable 84-70 lead to head into a subgrouping. The final four points would come from a pair of Schenk and Rankine free throws to give the Pride a 92-77 win.
UP NEXT
Widener returns home this coming Saturday, Dec. 2 to host the MAC Freedom champions Arcadia in a 3 p.m. tip-off. The Pride will also celebrate last season's MCA Commonwealth Championship with a ring ceremony post game.
