Men’s Soccer Comes up Empty-Handed in Battle Versus Messiah

The Pride are on a Two-Match Losing Streak

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Widener men's soccer fought hard with the top-ranked Messiah University Falcons on Saturday, but they lost 2-0.

The Pride are 9-2 in the regular season. They are 1-1 in MAC play.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Pride had four shots (none on goal). The Falcons had 11 shots (six on goal).
  • The Falcons had six more fouls than the Pride (17-11).
  • Ryan Van Pelt made two saves in the first half. In the second half, Tristan Willey made two saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MESSIAH
  • Sean Fatiga led the Pride with two shots. Monsif Atify and Max Hartke each had one shot.
  • Tristan Willey did not allow a goal in his 45 minutes of play. It was a season-high in minutes for the first-year goalie.
  • The Pride was assessed two yellow cards. One was on Ricky Venegas Banuelos. The other was on Fatiga.
  • The Pride had two less offsides penalties than Messiah (3-1).
  • The Falcons had 11 corner kicks, compared to the Pride's one.

The Pride will return home on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. They will host the Arcadia University Knights.
