HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 2:58 on the clock, Thompson tied the game at seven as he snagged a 31-yard pass from Diehl to cap a 7 play, 90-yard drive. As time ticked under 30 seconds in the first, the Pride offense moved inside the KINGS5 on a targeting penalty.
- Bryce Casey would punch in a 3-yard rush following the start of the second. Nate Brown and Joshua Salter would hold the Monarchs to a three and out in the next sequence as the scoring drought begun. A deep shot down the left side would end the drought as Stokes snagged a 35-yard pass and shake off defenders to give the Pride a 21-7 lead heading into half.
- Coming out of halftime, the targeting penalty would be reversed from earlier in the first. A long drive from the Monarchs would end in a touchdown. Back and forth series from each side would result in punts on the next drive series until Pattison hit a 22-yard field goal to extend the lead to 24-14 after a 9 play, 68-yard drive.
- A trick play from the Pride offense would give Stokes a 5-yard touchdown pass to Thompson to give the Pride a 17-point lead. Jalen Walker, Matt Harrer, and Elijah Benton began to tire the Monarch offensive line which led to numerous sacks pushing them back to the KINGS40 for a 4th and 23. Reynolds' second interception ended any hopes for the Monarchs with 3:47 remaining in the game as he snagged a diving catch to give the Pride their last offensive series.
