ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – For the second time in three matches, Widener men's soccer earned a draw on Tuesday afternoon. Their match against Eastern ended in a 1-1 decision.
The Pride are 12-2-2 in the regular season. They are 3-1-2 in MAC play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pride had 13 shots (four on goal). The Eagles had seven shots (one on goal).
- Widener had five corner kicks. Eastern had three.
- Ryan Van Pelt played all 90 minutes in goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
- The Pride were aggressive early with a corner kick at 1:43 and a Max Hartke shot at 2:21. But, they were unable to capitalize.
- The Eagles struck first at 11:14. Eastern's Aidan Link put a shot in the net on a Zach Sievert assist.
- Widener's goal came in the second half at 48:31. Michael Donaghy scored his third goal of the season on Ryan Davis' first assist of the year.
- Ryan Toporowski led the team with three shots. Four different players had one shot on goal each: Donaghy, Ricky Venegas Banuelos, Kevin Witkoski, and Hector Suriel.
- Eastern had 13 fouls, compared to just seven from Widener.
- There were three yellow cards assessed in this match. Widener as a team was given one at the 84th minute.
