HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE SCHWARTZ ATHLETIC CENTER

The Pride started the evening with a Holden three pointer, off of a Dominic Dunn assist. The two traded places for the very next bucket, with Dunn hitting the three and Holden getting the assist. The Golden Wolves held the early lead, but a Holden jumper made the score 16-14 in favor of the visitors. Down by nine points with 7:15 in the opening half, the Pride found momentum with a layup from Kevin Schenk and five straight points from Holden. With the clock winding down, Widener was able to get one more triple from both Holden and Schenk. Schenk's shot was the final make for either side for the half. The Pride went into halftime down 34-29. Within the first 20 minutes, the Pride shot 3-4 (75%) from the free throw line, 6-15 (40%) from behind the arch, and they narrowly won the offensive rebound battle 9-8.

A Schenk triple was the beginning of the Widener scoring for the second half. He scored eight of his team's first 10 points. Gradually, Widener inched closer and closer to erase their deficit, and the crowd erupted when Xavier Ernest's layup with 13:10 left gave the Pride the lead, 49-48, forcing an Alvernia timeout. The Pride and Golden Wolves then exchanged shots, with Myles Bright and Dunn chipping in for the Pride during that stretch. Despite the Golden Wolves' tough defense, the Pride went ahead 59-58 on a Dunn free throw. With 2:08 left in the game, Holden hit a three and was fouled on the play, giving him a four-point opportunity. It was with that shot Holden crossed the threshold for 1,000 career points. After the free throw make it was 80-77 Alvernia. A Steven Matlack triple made things interesting at the end, but the Pride fell to the Golden Wolves 88-80. In the second half, the Pride dished out 11 assists to Alvernia's seven. They turned the ball over five times, compared to eight for the visitors, and grabbed seven offensive rebounds.
