CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener women's soccer team shut out its opponent for the second time in as many games, as it blanked Stevens, 2-0, on Wednesday night at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr.Stadium.
The victory put the Pride at 4-3-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STEVENS
- After 37 minutes of scoreless action, the Pride got on the scoreboard in the 38th minute when senior Niamh Sweeney scored her first career goal off a pass from Morgan Hart. The Pride took that 1-0 lead into halftime.
- Three minutes into the second half, the Pride made it a 2-0 lead after sophomore Alyssa Carman scored her third goal of the season. Carman took three shots on goal in the game, increasing her total in that stat category to 17, which leads the MAC Commonwealth.
- Samantha Coon secured the shutout by notching a season-high nine saves.
- The Pride now have three shutouts on the season after also blanking Wilkes, 3-0, in their home opener.

Widener will hit the road to face York in its first MAC Commonwealth match of the season. Kickoff is set for noon.
