BY THE NUMBERS

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Widener came out aggressively in the opening half, putting three shots on target in the first seven minutes. Cecilia Deroian, Allison Gomez, and Madelyn Fisher each tested Eastern goalkeeper Faith Leake early, but Leake turned away each attempt. Fisher added another shot on target in the 16th minute, while Mia Garofalo and Erin Quinn also looked to generate scoring opportunities. Eastern's best first-half chances came from Heather Abzug and Morgan Bayley, but Lindsay Price made two saves to keep the match scoreless at halftime. The Pride outshot the Eagles 7-2 in the opening 45 minutes.
  • The teams continued to battle defensively after the break, with Fisher putting two more shots on target in the second half, both of which were saved by Leake. Eastern increased its attacking pressure late, and Price made a save on a shot by Corrine Myers in the 83rd minute. Moments later, Billinda Leisner found the back of the net off an assist from Mia Zucker to give the Eagles the lead. Widener earned two consecutive corner kicks shortly after the goal and continued to push for an equalizer, but Eastern held on for the 1-0 victory.
