READING, Pa. - The Widener University women's volleyball team came away with its third straight victory after it swept Alvernia, 25-20, 25-13, 25-15, on Wednesday night on the road.
The Pride improved to 3-8 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALVERNIA
- The Pride opened the match by going on a 15-4 run to overcome a 7-2 deficit and cruise to a win in the first set.
- The Pride won the second game by putting together a 22-8 run to come back from a brief 5-3 deficit. In the final game, the Pride led wire-to-wire to come away with the victory.
- Martucci tied her career high with 17 kills to lead the Pride. The junior outside hitter had 17 kills against Wilkes last season.
- Megan Barthol posted a double-double, handing out a match-high 30 assists and making 12 digs.
- Shannon Toomey and Alex Verchio made an impact on the front line, totaling five blocks apiece.
- Liz Barnes did well serving the ball, notching three service aces.
