CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team scored a pair in of goals in the first half and that was all it needed as it earned its third consecutive victory Wednesday by beating Neumann, 2-1, at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.
This victory got the Pride back at the .500 mark at 3-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NEUMANN
- The Pride got on the scoreboard early, as senior Andrew Hurrell fired in a shot into the upper 90 off a rebound following a throw-in attempt in the sixth minute.
- After Neumann tied the game with a goal in the 19th minute, the Pride regained the lead eight minutes later after first-year Bryan Gaviria his first career goal off a throw-in from classmate Michael Burckley.
- From there, the Pride maintained most of the possession in the game, outshooting Neumann, 6-2, in the second half and 13-5 overall. Sean Fatiga led the Pride with four shots, two of which were on goal, while Hurrell, Burckley, and Monsif Atify added two shots apiece.
- Goalie Ryan Van Pelt made four saves in the winning effort for Widener.

Widener will travel to Hoboken, New Jersey on Saturday for a match against Stevens. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
