Field Hockey Tops Albright in MAC Commonwealth Opener

Three Pride players score to put Widener at 4-2 on year

CHESTER, Pa.-The Widener field hockey team opened conference play and beat Albright 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Dixon Field. 

The Pride are now 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in MAC Commonwealth play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALBRIGHT
  • A balanced offensive effort from both sides kept the game scoreless until four minutes into the second period when Juliana Sanchez scored off an assist by Jessie Schlosser  The Pride took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
  • After Albright tied the game with a goal in the third quarter, the Pride took the lead again two minutes into the fourth after Olivia Deysher scored on a rebound. 
  • The Pride added an insurance goal in the 50th minute after Makenzie Adamson fired the ball into the top left corner of the cage.
  • The Pride outshot the Lions, 18-8, in the game. The Pride have tallied over 18 shots for a third straight game.
  • In the net, first-year Lily Rejrat played the full 60 minutes and had three saves on the day.
UP NEXT
The Pride take on Immaculata at home on Wednesday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
