CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's cross country team has released its schedule for the upcoming 2022 season — its 42
nd season in program history.
The Pride, under the direction of head coach
Logan Stroman, will have a slate that features seven meets. More importantly, it will look to build upon its historic 2021 season in which it placed second at the MAC Championships for the first time in program history and took third at the Metro Regional — their highest finish in a regional meet in program history.
"We are very excited for this upcoming season," Stroman said. "Coming off a second-place finish in the MAC, the team is working hard to bring Widener its first women's cross-country championship. Our early season meets allow us to be ready to race well in October at the Paul Short Run and Rowan meets. Come championships, we will be ready to be at our best."
The Pride will open the season at the Bryn Mawr Invitational on Sept. 1. Then, they will head to Lebanon Valley College for the Dutchmen Invitational on Sept. 10.
The Pride will then compete at the Main Line Invitational on Sept. 16 at Haverford. Two weeks later on Sept. 30, the Pride will close out the month with the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
The Pride will conclude the regular season on Oct. 15 with the Border Battle at Rowan.
On Oct. 29, the Pride will compete in the MAC Championships at Lebanon Valley. Then on Nov. 12, the Pride will run in the NCAA Metro Regional Championships at DeSales.
The Pride return eight runners from 2021, including MAC Rookie of the Year and All-MAC First-Team member
Gabby Nye and All-MAC Second-Team selection
Carly Gable.
