CHESTER, Pa.- The Widener women's lacrosse team clinched a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament by earning a 14-4 victory over Lebanon Valley on Wednesday night at Edith R. Dixon Field.
With the win, the Pride improved to 10-6 on the season and 5-2 in conference play to qualify for the conference tournament for the third time in four years. The Pride are tied with Stevenson for third place in the MAC Commonwealth.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LEBANON VALLEY
- The Pride jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter after receiving goals from Jamie DeHaven and Amber Bretz. In the second, LVC scored four goals, but the Pride managed to get three goals from DeHaven, Chelsea Forsyth, and Catherine Scott to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
- In the second half, the Pride pulled away by outscoring Lebanon Valley, 9-0, after pouring in five goals in the third quarter and four more in the fourth.
- The Pride had eight different women score a goal in the game. DeHaven led the way with four goals, while Scott added three and Bretz chipped in two. Forsyth, Clark Trowbridge, Gab Cohen, Katie Ward, and Maura Murray added one goal apiece.
- Defensively, Maddie Medve had 11 saves in goal. Medve leads all of NCAA Division III in save percentage at.595 and ranks second in the MAC Commonwealth in goals against average (8.18), saves (181), and saves per game (11.31).
- Grace Lindberger led Widener with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Kaely Cristello also caused three turnovers in the win.

The Pride conclude regular season play this Saturday with a huge Senior Day home game against Stevenson. With a win, the Pride will be the third seed in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament and earn a semifinal berth. A loss would make the Pride the fourth seed and will host the 4/5 play-in game on Monday. First draw for Saturday's clash against Stevenson is at 1 p.m.
