READING, Pa.- The Widener baseball team played the first of two MAC Commonwealth games this week against Alvernia on Monday, but it was the Golden Wolves who came away with an 11-1 win in their contest at Angelica Park.
With the loss, the Pride dropped to 19-16 on the season and are 8-5 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride are in a tie for third in the conference with Alvernia.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALVERNIA
- After a scoreless first inning, the Pride fell into a 5-0 hole in the second inning after the Golden Wolves scored their five runs on five hits.
- In the third, the Pride managed to score their lone run of the game after Kyle Brex hit an RBI single. However, the Golden Wolves scored a run in the third, two in the fifth, and three in the sixth to earn the win.
- Brex led the Pride at the dish, going 2-for-4 with a double. Justin Costanzo and Jason Morgan each had a hit in the defeat.
