GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – 
Ally McDowell surpassed the 100-hit plateau while leading the Widener softball team to a pair of wins over Gwynedd Mercy on Friday at Gwynedd Mercy's softball field. 
 
 
The Pride came away with a 7-5 win in the first game, then rallied for an 8-6 victory in the nightcap.
 
Widener is now 14-6 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GWYNEDD MERCY IN GAME 1
	- McDowell reached the century mark in hits after going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, with her RBI single in the second inning being the one to put her in Widener's record book. The hit also gave the Pride a 4-2 lead and capped a three-run inning for them. The senior outfielder also had an RBI double in the first inning that gave the Pride a 1-0 lead.
 
	- Kelly Dodgson also had a two-run single in the fifth inning and Kaylin Johnson had an RBI single in the game. 
 
	- Liz Renavitz threw a complete game in the circle, allowing only four earned runs on seven hits while striking out nine batters. The first-year pitcher improved to 8-3 on the year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GWYNEDD MERCY IN GAME 2
	- Trailing, 5-2, through five innings, the Pride pushed across four runs in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead. Johnson started the rally with an RBI single, Mikaela Lovell followed with an RBI single, and Becca Tiley hit a two-run single to give the Blue and Gold the lead.
 
	- The Pride tacked on two more runs in the seventh on a pair of RBI singles from Johnson and Lovell. From there, starter Mikayla Fedele and the defense prevented the Griffins from making a comeback in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win. 
 
	- Tiley led Widener at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Johnson and Lovell each had two hits and two RBIs, and Leah DiGiadomenico added two hits in the victory.
 
	- Fedele threw a complete game, allowing only two earned runs while fanning four to earn her fourth win of the year.

The Pride will return to Chester to host Hood in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at 3:30 p.m., with the nightcap to follow at 5:30 p.m.
