CAMDEN, N.J. – The Widener baseball team held a five-run lead against Rutgers-Camden, but could not hang on to win as the Scarlet Raptors rallied for an 8-5 victory on Friday afternoon at Camden Athletic Complex.
With the loss, the Pride slipped to 7-10 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST RUTGERS-CAMDEN
- The Pride had a 5-0 lead through four innings after scoring three runs in the second inning, one in the third and one in the fourth. In the second, Trey Tobinus hit a bases-clearing double to right-center field to give the Pride a 3-0 lead. Kyle Brex scored a run in the third on a Bryce Fremgen fielder's choice and Aaron Nuble scored a run in the fourth on an error.
- However, Rutgers-Camden tied the game in the fifth by scoring five runs, then took the lead in the seventh after pushing across three runs.
- Brex and Nuble led the Pride at the dish after both went 2-for-4.
- Sophomore starter Sean Curran pitched well, allowing only four hits while striking out three in four innings pitched. Curran did not factor into the decision.

The Pride will travel to Maryland on Saturday to play Washington College in non-conference action in Camden. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
