GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Widener women's lacrosse team played tough against Stockton, but a five-goal second quarter by the Ospreys was the difference as the Ospreys won, 11-6, on Wednesday night at Stockton Turf Field.
With the loss, the Pride fell to 5-2 on the season, losing their second in a row following their program-best 5-0 start.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STOCKTON
- The Pride went back and forth with the Ospreys in the first quarter, finishing it tied at 2. After Stockton scored the first goal in the first 42 seconds, the Pride tied it right back up a minute later after Katie Ward scored off an Amelia Alminde assist. Then after Stockton scored again with 7:36 left, the Pride received a goal from Clark Trowbridge to tie the game with 6:16 remaining.
- In the second quarter, the Ospreys put in five goals to take a 7-2 lead at halftime.
- In the third quarter, the Pride cut the deficit to three after Gab Cohen scored a pair of goals. However, Stockton two goals to put its advantage back to five at the end of the third.
- In the fourth, the Pride received goals from Annalee Doyle and Ward, but the Ospreys offset their goals with two of their own to secure the win.
- Defensively, Maddie Medve made 13 saves and led the team with four ground balls.
