ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Widener women's lacrosse team put together a strong second half, scoring 10 goals en route to a 15-5 victory over Elizabethtown on Tuesday afternoon at Wolf Field.
The victory kept the Pride unbeaten on the young season, as they improved to 3-0.
HERE'S HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ELIZABETHTOWN
- After holding a 3-2 lead through the first quarter and only a 5-2 margin over the Blue Jays at halftime, the Pride broke out on offense in the third quarter by scoring six goals to take an 11-4 lead. Katie Ward led the Pride's offensive attack, scoring three of her game-high five goals in the period.
- In the fourth quarter, Widener put the game away after Gab Cohen scored two goals of her four goals for the game in the period and Olivia McDonald added two of her own.
- Jamie DeHaven, Catherine Scott, Clark Trowbridge, and Annalee Doyle each scored one goal to give the Pride seven goal scorers on the day.
- Eight Pride players chipped in at least one assist to help the offensive effort. Amber Bretz and Jamie DeHaven led Widener with two assists apiece.
- The Pride dominated on the offensive end, firing 42 compared to the Blue Jays' 14 attempts. Bretz helped the Pride get an early advantage on the offensive end, leading the team with six draw controls.
- Maddie Medve had seven saves in goal for the Blue and Gold. The senior goalie also led the team with five ground balls.

Widener is back in action on March 10 on the road against Cabrini University. Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m.
