CHESTER, Pa.- The Widener women's basketball team played tough against Messiah but were unable to push past the Falcons, ending the day with a 55-43 loss at the Schwartz Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Pride is now 2-6 on the season and is 0-2 in conference play.

Senior Jordan D'Ambrosio led the Pride with 16 points, followed by first-year Lindsey Kutz who scored 13 points. Widener scored more than half of their points in the paint, finishing with 22 from down low.

D'Ambrosio led the Blue and Gold in rebounds, tallying nine. Mia Robbins also grabbed seven rebounds.

Defensively, Ambrosio had two steals and three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was an even battle between the two teams, never seeing a gap in the score higher than seven points. The Pride was shot 9-29 in field goals and went 7-11 at the free throw line.
Coming out for the second half, the Falcons got hot and shot 46% in field goals compared to the Pride's 35%, capitalizing on turnovers and second-chance points.
With 1:27 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Pride was able to close the gap to nine points, but the Falcons finished the game with victory.
