CHESTER, Pa. – Widener men's basketball record a new season high against the Rosemont Ravens at home 92-55 in a non-conference matchup.
Following the 37-point victory, the Pride move to 4-2 in the regular season and open their conference play against Alvernia on Wednesday.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Graduate student Dominic Dunn led the Pride with 19 points over 25 minutes of play with seven rebounds.
- Kenny Lewis found 13 rebounds while Kevin Schenk dished out four assists.
- From the bench, Luke Mazur added 10 points to the Pride's total.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE SCHWARTZ CENTER
The Pride opened the game with quick 20-point lead with about 13 minutes to go in the first half. The Ravens added some pressure on defense and found a rhythm on offense to cut the lead to under eight. In the first half, the men shot 14 of 32 from the floor and drained six three-point shots out of 15 attempts. Dunn and the Pride went into halftime up 36-23.
Opening the second half, the Pride kept the fire burning with 56 points.
Pat Holden held the offense in check with 13 points and led the team to go 21 of 34 in field goals and 4 of 8 in three-point attempts. On defense,
Steven Matlack stole three balls while Dunn and Lewis threw up a block a piece. The team shot 35 of 66 from the floor with 48 of their 92 points in the paint. Widener's bench found just around a third of their points while the defense turned in 20 points off turnovers.
