CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener men's basketball team took down Swarthmore in a thrilling, last-second basket Wednesday night at the Schwartz Center.
After the thriller, the Pride is now 3-0 to start the season and remain recordless in MAC Commonwealth play.
A LOOK AT THE NUMBERS

Pat Holden led the night with 22 points for the Pride. Dominic Dunn and Steven Matlack chipped in eleven points each, and Kevin Schenk and Kenny Lewis added nine each. The Pride shot 82% from the free-throw line tonight.

Matlack had a night going 2-2 at the free throw line, 3-5 at the arch, and 3-5 in field goals.

Defensively, Lewis grabbed eleven rebounds for the Blue and Gold. Holden tallied two steals and Schenk had one.
HOW IT HAPPENED IN THE SCHWARTZ CENTER
The Pride came out rolling with a 5-4 lead five minutes into the game. After a few back and forth lead changes, the men found their groove and began tacking on the points to go into halftime with a 35-28 lead to the #21 Swarthmore Garnet. The first half finished up with the Pride shooting 40.63% from the floor, 35.29% from beyond the three-point line, and 100% at the line.
After holding the lead for the entire first half, the Pride found themselves tied up with the Garnet, 42-42 with 15 minutes remaining in the game. The Pride lost their lead but found themselves caught up after a few baskets, steals, and free throws by Dunn, Lewis, Holden, and Schenk. With twelve seconds remaining and the Pride down by one, Holden found the open lane and dropped one in to bring the score to 67-66 to finish the game with a win. For the game, the Pride tallied 24 points in the paint and put up 13 points off of rebounded baskets. On the evening, Widener shot 37.3% from the floor and went 9 of 28 in three point shots.

The Pride travel to Collegeville, Pa on Saturday to take on Ursinus in a non-conference game. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
