Men’s Soccer Keeps Dominating In MAC Commonwealth Play

Michael Donaghy earns first season goal.

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University men's soccer team continues to be unbeaten in MAC Commonwealth play with another win against Alvernia on Tuesday evening.
 
With the victory, the Pride improve to 10-4-2 on the season and 6-0-1 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALVERNIA
  • After a scoreless first half, Sean Fatiga finds the back of the net from Monsif Atify in the 57th minute to open the scoring gates for the Pride. 
  • Ten minutes later, Michael Donaghy earned himself his first goal of the 2022 season. Donaghy's goal came with a volley from the top left of the 18-yard box to sneak past Alvernia's goalie.
  • Topping off the scoring was another goal by Fatiga from Atify on a free kick in the 82nd minute.
  • Pride goalie, Ryan Van Pelt, added three saves to his stats. 
  • Fatiga kept the pressure on with six shots and four of those being on target.
  • The Pride defense did their job, keeping Alvernia to one goal in the 84th minute. 
UP NEXT
Widener finishes up their regular season with a home match and Senior Day against Messiah on Saturday, Oct. 29. Saturday's MAC Commonwealth match is set for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
