Women’s Swimming Open 2022-23 Season With Wins

Kalsbeek Earns a Pair of Individual Wins

CHESTER, Pa. – Widener women's swimming team swam to its first wins on Saturday against Albright and Moravian.
 
With the wins, the women move to 2-0 and 1-0 in Conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALBRIGHT AND MORAVIAN
 
Women
  • The Blue and Gold win both relays and 4-9 individual events.
  • Widener opens the meet with an 11-point win in the 200-medley relay (Sophia Sapnas, Anna Durboraw, Olivia Downs, Azaria Luckey) with a time of 2:02.84.
  • Lauren Kalsbeek went 2-2 for individual event wins in the 50 free (25.90) and 100 fly (1:04.22). Kalsbeek's splash and dash 50 free places her in the top 10 of the conference this week.
  • Mary Sanders led the sweep in the 200 free (2:08.41) along with Gabby DiGiovanni (2:09.93) and Kylie Rodi (2:18.67).
  • Sally Meyers also picks up an individual win in the 100 free (57.57) and a second-place finish in the 1000 free (11:32.27).
  • Kalsbeek with the help from Rodi (1:06.65) and Durboraw (1:08.99) sweep the 100 fly.
  • The Pride close out the meet with a victory in the 200-freestyle relay (Sanders, Downs, Meyers, Kalsbeek) with a winning time of 1:48.42.
  • The women outscore Albright 115-55 and Moravian 142-34.

Widener returns home Saturday, Oct. 29 for a Middle Atlantic Conference quad meet against Messiah, Hood, and Kings. First splash is set for 1 p.m.
