Women's Volleyball Splits Last Tri-Match With Montclair State University, Hunter College

Barthol Adds 76 Assists to Career

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Widener University women's volleyball team come away with a win and loss against Montclair State (1-3) and Hunter (3-1) on Saturday in their final tri-match of the season.

With the split, the Pride move to 11-13 on the season and remain 3-3 in MAC Commonwealth play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST HUNTER
  • The Pride get off to a quick start with a 2-set lead in match one (25-21) (25-21).
  • Hunter pushes the Pride to a fourth set with a 26-24 win in the third.
  • Widener finishes the Hawks with a 25-22 fourth set win.
  • On the match the Pride outhit the Hawks 195-to-159 in total attempts.
  • Lilyanna Martucci, Abigail Herrin, and Emily Miller led the Blue and Gold in kills with 12, 12, and 10 to end the match in four.
  • Shelby Motz adds to her service record with 3 aces while Megan Barthol tacks on 38 assists to her career total.
  • On the defensive side, Rachel DiCarlo credits 31 digs while Martucci, Herrin, and Miller add six combined blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MONTCLAIR STATE
  • Montclair State open with a high scoring 29-27 set 1 and another win in set 2 (25-23).
  • The Pride answer back with a 25-20 victory in set 3 to push a fourth.
  • The Red Hawks end the match with a 25-16 set 4.
  • Herrin led the Blue and Gold on the offensive with 16 kills and adds four blocks to her defensive stats.
  • Motz tacks on another service ace to her stats.
  • Barthol also adds another 38 assists pushing her career assists to 741 on the season while also leading the defense with 22 digs.

Widener returns home on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for a MAC Commonwealth match against Lebanon Valley. First serve at 7 p.m.
