YORK, Pa. – Sean Fatiga scored two goals in the first half to help the Widener men's soccer team post a 3-1'win against York in its MAC Commonwealth opener Saturday afternoon at York College.
This victory gave the Pride three points in the conference standings and put them at 5-4 overall on the season. The Pride also won their conference opener for the first time since 2012, when they topped Hood, 1-0, at Hood.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK
- The Pride dominated most of the possession, especially in the first half when they outshot the Spartans, 6-0, in the first 45 minutes.
- Fatiga got the Pride on the scoreboard in the first three minutes after scoring his fourth goal of the season. Then in the 22nd minute, the junior forward found the back of the net again on a double assist from Andrew Hurrell and Bryce Deshaies to make it a 2-0 Widener lead.
- In the second half, the Pride added an insurance goal in the 68th minute after Max Hartke scored his first career goal off a double assist from Angelo Pelosi and Michael Burckley.
- Ryan Van Pelt made one save while getting the win in net for Widener.

Widener will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Eastern in a MAC Commonwealth match. Kickoff for that game is at 7 p.m.
