Phelan Surpasses 1,000 career points as Women’s Basketball Wins 4th In a Row

Senior forward becomes 13th Pride player to hit milestone

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior Erin Phelan scored 20 points, including the 1,000th of her career, while leading the Widener women's basketball team to its fourth straight victory by earning a 66-60 win over Lebanon Valley on Sunday afternoon in its MAC Commonwealth contest at Lebanon Valley.

Needing seven points to reach the milestone, Phelan made a left-handed layup off a pass from fellow classmate Nicole Barnes with 2:50 left in the first quarter for her seventh and eighth points of the game. By doing so, the Downingtown, Pa. Native became the 13th 1,000-point scorer in Widener women's basketball history.

Along with Phelan making her mark on the program, the Pride won their fourth game in a row to push their overall record to 12-6 overall and 8-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Pride also avenged a 67-61 loss to Lebanon Valley that they suffered back on Dec. 1 at Schwartz Athletic Center.
