RADNOR, Pa. –
Jason Mongiovi had a hand in winning four events while leading the Widener men's swimming team to a 149-111 win over Cabrini on Saturday at Cabrini University.
A first-year swimmer, Mongiovi won the 100-yard breast stroke, 200 breast and 200 individual medley while also helping the 200 medley relay earn a victory. The Fanwood, N.J. native won the 100 breast in a time of 1:00.60, claimed first in the 200 breast in 2:16.75, and touched the wall first in the IM in 2:00.00. Mongiovi's times in the 100 breast and IM were personal bests and his 100 breast time was good for the fourth-best time in the MAC this season.
In the medley relay, Mongiovi,
Shane Douthit,
Joshua Cunningham, and
Kyle Cantrell combined for a time of 1:40.31 in their victory.
Widener also received a strong performance from
Daniel Parker, who had a hand in winning three events in the meet. Parker won the 100 butterfly in 54.59 and took first in the 200 fly in 2:05.68 while helping the 200 freestyle relay team win in 1:29.66.
The Pride also saw Cantrell and
Patrick Rankin each earn wins. Cantrell claimed victory in the 50 free in 22.16, while Rankin won the 200 backstroke in 2:08.89.
Widener also received top-three finishes in the meet from Parker (second in 200 free), Cunningham (second in 100 fly and second in 200 fly), Douthit (second in 50 free), Rankin (second in 100 back and third in IM),
Zach Anderson (second in 200 back),
Isaiah Moreef (second in 100 free),
Shane Hubbard (third in 1,000 free), Patrich Rauch (third in 100 back), and
Berkay Ozgen (third in 100 breast).
