CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University women's volleyball team bounced back from a first-set defeat to beat Gwynedd Mercy, 17-25, 25-12, 25-16, 25-19, on Wednesday night in their home opener at Schwartz Athletic Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Alnisha Saintilus led the Pride with nine kills on the night. Carly Venit and Shleby Motz added seven kills apiece in the win.
 
	- Megan Barthol led the Blue and Gold with 18 assists. Sydney Nichols also had double figures in assists with 13.
 
	- Defensively, Madeline Dutterer led the team with 11 digs and Saintilus tallied three blocks. 
 
	- After dropping the first set, the Pride rolled to their second-set victory by notching 13 kills and posting a .400 hitting percentage.
 
	- In the third set, the Pride jumped out to a 14-6 advantage and never dipped below below a seven-point lead after that en route to breaking the tie in the match.
 
	- In the fourth set, Widener raced out to a 9-2 lead, with Barthol and Isabella Ricevuto each having two aces apiece. The Pride and Griffins battled back and forth throughout the set, but the Blue and Gold came away with the win after Rachel DiCarlo notched the final point on a kill.
 
UP NEXT
Widener travels to Glassboro, N.J. to play in the Profs Invitational at Rowan University on Friday and Saturday. The Pride will face Catholic University on Friday at 5 p.m., then will take on Morrisville State College on Saturday at 2 p.m. and rival Rowan at 4 p.m.
