Field Hockey Knocks Off Undefeated Cabrini

Radnoff enters all-time top 10 in goals, points as Pride moves to 2-1

CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University field hockey team scored two quick goals and never looked back, as the Pride went on to post a 3-1 victory over Cabrini on Wednesday night at Edith R. Dixon Field and hand the Cavaliers their first loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior forward Madi Radnoff fired in her fifth goal of the season off an insert from junior defender Bryn Marcavage on a penalty corner to give the Pride a 1-0 lead in the first 1:40 of the game. Six minutes later, Senior midfielder Jesse Schlosser found the back of the cage for her second goal of the season on a pass from junior Margaret Howe-Consiglio to give the Pride a two-goal advantage. 
  • After the Blue and Gold took a 2-1 halftime lead, they received an insurance goal from senior midfielder Erin Callahan with in the 48th minute to secure the win, move to 2-1 on the year, and put Cabrini at 3-1 on the season.
  • Radnoff's first-period goal moved her into Widener's all-time top 10 in goals and points. The amount Airy, Md., native is 10th in goals with 22 and in points with 55.
  • The win over Cabrini was the first one for Widener against the Cavaliers since 2010, when they posted a 2-1 victory at Cabrini. The victory also marked the first one for the Pride at home against the Cavaliers since 2009, when they also posted a 3-1 win.
  • The Pride is now 13-9 all-time against the Cavaliers.
