BALTIMORE - The Widener University women's volleyball team swept a tri-match against Goucher College and St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Pride took all three sets against Goucher, 25-21, 27-25, 25-21, while they rallied from two sets down to beat St. Mary's, 17-25, 16-25, 25-12, 15-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GOUCHER

Madeline Dutterer totaled a team-high 17 digs for the Pride.

Megan Barthol led the Blue and Gold with 13 assists. Sydney Nichols also had double figures in assists with 10.

After winning the first set, 25-21, the Pride pulled out the close victory in the second set after scoring on a pair of hits from Barthol that led to attack errors on Goucher.

Leading, 11-8, in the second set, Widener put together another major run, going on a 14-3 spurt to come away with the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ST. MARY'S

Alnisha Saintilus and Venit led the Pride with 10 kills apiece. Barthol added seven kills on 10 attempts in the victory.

Dutterer totaled a match-high 25 digs for the Pride.

Barthol handed out a team-best 17 assists. Nichols added 10 as well for the Blue and Gold.

After dropping the first two sets, the Pride raced out to a 9-0 lead in the third set and never looked back. In the third set, the Pride posted 17 of their 54 kills in the match.

In the fourth set, the Pride broke a 5-all tie by going on a 20-7 run to take the win.

In the fifth and final set, the Pride clung to a 13-12 lead before scoring the final two points on a Barthol kill and a Nichols hit that led to an attack error.

Widener heads back to Chester to host its home opener on Wednesday night against Gwynedd Mercy University. Match starts at 7 p.m.
