Women's Soccer Downs Bryn Mawr In OT Thriller

Alyssa Carman nets game winner in 97th minute

CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University women's soccer team downed the Bryn Mawr Owls 1-0 in an overtime thriller to secure its first win of the season. The game marked the Pride's first regular season match in 672 days and head coach Melissa Koster's first victory at the helm for the Blue and Gold.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • First year Alyssa Carman picked up the match's lone goal in the 97th minute to end the game with 3:14 remaining in the first overtime period. After regaining possession off a Bryn Mawr throw in, Hannah Berard delivered a pass up the sideline to a waiting Carman who took the ball up the end line and snuck it into the top right corner of the net.
  • Carman is the first Widener player to score a game-winning goal in overtime since September 16, 2017 when Eve Reyes netted one in a 2-1 victory over Wesley. She is also the only first year player to score one for the Pride in the past 10 years.
  • Widener out shot Bryn Mawr 17-3 with Widener's defense allowing just one of those three shots on goal.
