CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University women's volleyball team used a strong all-around effort to sweep Marywood, 25-15, 25-17, 25-20, on Thursday night in a non-conference match at Schwartz Athletic Center.
With the win, the Pride move to 12-4 overall on the season and 11-2 in non-conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYWOOD
- The Pride overpowered the Pacers, as they had 36 kills compared to their 21. In the first two sets, the Pride held Marywood to six and five kills, respectively.
- Shelby Motz filled out the stat sheet, leading Widener with match-highs in kills (nine), aces (five), and blocks (three).
- Megan Barthol had a solid night setting up the Pride attack, dishing out 15 assists for the Blue and Gold. Sydney Nichols also did well getting the attack going, handing out 12 assists.
- Madeline Dutterer led the Pride in digs with 12.
UP NEXT
Widener hits the road on Saturday for a tri-match against Lancaster Bible College and Grove City College at Lancaster Bible. The Pride will face Lancaster Bible at 11 a.m., then will take on Grove City at 1 p.m.
